Who We Are
Our Story
Since its inception, the Famiglia Bagnolese Society has been the glue that holds the Bagnolese culture and community together; not just as a society, but as a “famiglia”. The legacy of the Society began in 1969, with the desire to maintain the traditions and friendships among those Bagnolese that emigrated from the small, but beautiful, town of Bagnoli del Trigno to Vancouver, British Columbia.
It wasn’t easy moving to Canada and leaving behind their loved ones in Italy. However, the perseverance of the Vancouver Bagnolese to start a new life with new opportunities was what ultimately allowed them to succeed. An important component to their success, however, was their community, and the Famiglia Bagnolese Society was at the centre of the developing Italian community in Vancouver.
Today, the legacy of the Society continues to have a strong presence in the Vancouver community. The Society is active in promoting education, social activity, youth engagement, sports, and fine arts. However, staying true to our roots, the Famiglia Bagnolese Society will always keep the notion of “la famiglia” at the forefront.
